Saraki, 3 Govs, 3 ex-Govs to drive PDP Strategy Committee

The Strategy Committee’s mandate is to devise plans that unify the party’s various factions and restore internal stability in preparation for upcoming electoral activities. These developments are seen as critical for the PDP’s political prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Abuja following the expanded PDP Governors’ Forum meeting, Saraki emphasized the importance of unity within the party.
“I have just concluded a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum, attended by both serving and former governors, at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge. We had fruitful deliberations on the party’s current challenges and its future direction,” he said.
He highlighted the strong turnout at the meeting, stressing the collective will to resolve disputes and establish a clear path forward.
Saraki outlined the concrete steps being taken to ensure a peaceful and successful convention.
“As part of the decisions taken to move forward, the meeting established a seven-member Strategy Committee tasked with preparing for a rancour-free NEC meeting on May 27 and the upcoming national convention,” he stated.
The committee will be chaired by Saraki, working alongside: Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu, Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo and Former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia.
Saraki expressed confidence in the Strategy Committee’s ability to deliver on its mandate, adding, “We are committed to doing our utmost to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to us.”
The upcoming NEC meeting and national convention are considered pivotal for the PDP, as they will shape key leadership roles and candidate nominations, determining the party’s preparedness for future elections.
The strategic efforts led by Saraki, backed by influential political figures, represent a calculated move to consolidate the PDP’s internal structure and position it for stronger, more unified participation in Nigeria’s political landscape.
