Man United takeover news: Glazers theory, Sir Jim Ratcliffe timeline and Sheikh Jassim decision

By Olaide Shittu

There has been more talk about a potential takeover or investment in Manchester United amid growing fan unrest over the ownership of the club

There has been a lot of talk over a potential takeover at Manchester United over the last few years.
The Glazer family have owned United since June 2005, but amid the team’s struggles over the last few years there has been growing fan unrest towards the ownership. There is a protest planned ahead of the Premier League game against Fulham at the start of next month.

The Glazers sold a minority stake of the club to Sir Jim Ratcliffe almost two years ago. However, against Burnley last week a banner criticising the co-owner was held up in the away end at Turf Moor when United took on Scott Parker's side in the Premier League, just days after the dismissal of manager Ruben Amorim.

Speculation over a potential takeover started again back in October last year when Saudi sports promoter Turki Al-Sheikh suggested a deal was imminent with posts on social media. Any potential move failed to come to fruition.

There is still, however, talk of potential investment at Old Trafford as plans for the future are put in place. With that in mind, here is a look at the latest.
